Local Movers in San Diego, CA

From a North Park bungalow to a Clairemont canyon lot, our own San Diego crews carry it door to door. Owner Cole Ferreira grew up in Point Loma and still rides along on the steep-carry and high-rise jobs himself.

The owner picks up, not a call center

Ring the office and you get Cole, or a mover who actually rides the trucks — never a scripted script-reader. Flag the long canyon-lot carry up from the street, the La Jolla building that wants a certificate of insurance, or the Pacific Beach block where parking is permit-only, and the day is mapped out before your date arrives.

Your price is set in writing first

The number comes off a room-by-room walkthrough, with the wardrobe boxes, moving pads, dollies and shrink-wrap already folded in — so nothing new shows up on the bill once the crew is parked at the curb.

Pack it all, or only what breaks

Turn the whole kitchen over for dish barrels, let wardrobe cartons lift your closet across on the hangers, or just point out the mirrors, TVs and glass tabletops we build fitted crates around for the drive.

One crew, first door to last

The crew chief who sizes up your home at the estimate is the one driving the truck and walking the empty rooms with you at the end — a North Park bungalow, an Oceanside beach apartment or a downtown Gaslamp high-rise on the freight elevator, nothing changes hands halfway.

Most of what we run is neighborhood work — a Hillcrest apartment to a North Park bungalow, a Point Loma cottage out to a Poway ranch home, or a full house across town to La Mesa. Before the crew ever pulls up, Beto Guerrero has the truck board set and the parking figured out — and pricing is your call: leave the hourly clock running, or lock in a flat number once we have walked the rooms.

What it runs

  • Two movers and the truck: $155 an hour
  • Add a third mover: $215 an hour
  • One-hour minimum, with pads, dollies, shrink-wrap and wardrobe boxes included
  • Want a flat figure? Studio $420–$680, two-bed $760–$1,220, three-bed $1,300–$2,040

We cover the city and all of San Diego County — North Park, Hillcrest, Point Loma and out through Chula Vista, El Cajon, Poway and Oceanside. On a steep canyon lot or a narrow hillside street, Kai’s crew handles the long carry from the curb, and Beto lines up the permit so the truck sits as close to the door as the block allows.

Part of Every Move

Everything on this list is built into the way our crews run a job — none of it turns up later as a surprise line at the bottom of your bill.

  • A crew of two or three, sized to your home and the day that works for you
  • Run the hourly clock or lock a flat rate up front — however you'd rather pay
  • Moving pads, dollies, shrink-wrap and wardrobe boxes all come with the truck, no add-on
  • Curb permits and hillside-street access worked out by Beto Guerrero before move day
  • We break down and rebuild the bed frames, tables and shelving on both ends
  • Pianos, gun safes and long canyon-lot carries handled by Kai Nakamura's lead crew
  • Coverage across San Diego and the whole county, from the South Bay up to North County

Answers to the Usual Questions

My place sits down a canyon lot with a long climb from the street — how do you handle that?
That's routine here. Kai's crew works canyon and hillside carries all over the county. We walk the path first, pad the turns, and add a set of hands on a long haul from the curb so nobody's gassed by midday and your furniture moves clean.
Can we settle on one flat figure rather than run the meter?
Absolutely. Give us the room count and how tight the access is at each end, and we will name a single flat figure — a studio lands around $420 to $680, a three-bedroom around $1,300 to $2,040 — with the hourly clock switched off for the whole day.
Is it just inside the city, or do you head out to suburbs like Chula Vista, El Cajon or Poway too?
Both. The whole county is fair game — Chula Vista, La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, Coronado, Poway, Escondido and up to Oceanside — priced as a local job, with the drive time spelled out plainly on your written estimate.
What's the best time of day to move around here — the marine layer or the afternoon heat?
We plan around both. Coastal mornings can sit under the May-Gray and June-Gloom marine layer, and inland runs to El Cajon or Santee bake by afternoon, so Beto schedules the loading for the cool of the morning and keeps water on the truck. Summer books up — call ahead.
Is Blue Jean Movers a real San Diego moving company, or a lead-matching middleman?
The real thing. We work out of our own yard on Hancock Street — licensed, insured, owner-operated, on trucks that belong to us and movers wearing our uniform. Nothing gets sold off or handed to a stranger; your move stays ours start to finish, first carton to last.

How Your Move Day Unfolds

  1. 1

A written number the same day

On our end: Tell us the room count, whether it is a street-level carry or a haul up from a canyon-lot curb, and how parking looks on your block — and a figure in writing usually reaches your inbox before we lock the office for the night.

Where you help: Have both dates in hand, the day you are out and the day you are in, plus any gate, garage or HOA access codes; that is what turns a ballpark into a firm price.

  2. 2

    Date locked, access sorted

On our end: Before move day we reserve the loading zone or pull a parking permit, hold the elevator window at your condo or high-rise, and clear the certificate of insurance with your HOA or building office — so the truck lands at the door and nobody carries a dresser half a block.

Where you help: Give us the two anchor dates — the day you have to be out and the day you can get in — and flag which of the two simply will not budge.

  3. 3

    Pad, wrap, label, carry

On our end: Every dresser and sofa goes under moving blankets and a layer of stretch film, and the hardware off each bed frame and table is bagged, labeled and taped to the piece it belongs to.

Where you help: Mark your own boxes with the room they land in at the new place, and keep passports, keys and small valuables in your own car rather than on the truck.

  4. 4

Unpack the truck, room by room

On our end: The crew that filled the truck is the crew that empties it — every piece landed where you want it, bed frames reassembled, and all the spent wrap and tape carried back out with us.

Where you help: Before the truck rolls, walk the emptied rooms with the crew chief while anything that needs a touch-up still can get one.

What does a San Diego move actually cost?

Send over the size of the home, the date you are aiming for, and a rough idea of what is coming along, and a written estimate lands in your inbox that same day. No deposit and nothing due up front — just a number solid enough to plan the whole move around.

  • Licensed and insured — we carry California Public Utilities Commission household-goods moving authority on jobs inside the state, and pick up US DOT and MC authority the moment a load crosses the California line
  • The figure you approve is the figure the crew works to — it comes off a real room-by-room count, not a number guessed from the street
  • Each mover wears our uniform, is on our own W-2 payroll, and drives a company-owned truck
