About Blue Jean Movers

Cole Ferreira here. Every truck, every crew, and the name painted down the side of the trailer — Blue Jean Movers is mine, top to bottom.

The owner picks up, not a call center

Ring the office and you get Cole, or a mover who actually rides the trucks — never a scripted script-reader. Flag the long canyon-lot carry up from the street, the La Jolla building that wants a certificate of insurance, or the Pacific Beach block where parking is permit-only, and the day is mapped out before your date arrives.

Your price is set in writing first

The number comes off a room-by-room walkthrough, with the wardrobe boxes, moving pads, dollies and shrink-wrap already folded in — so nothing new shows up on the bill once the crew is parked at the curb.

Pack it all, or only what breaks

Turn the whole kitchen over for dish barrels, let wardrobe cartons lift your closet across on the hangers, or just point out the mirrors, TVs and glass tabletops we build fitted crates around for the drive.

One crew, first door to last

The crew chief who sizes up your home at the estimate is the one driving the truck and walking the empty rooms with you at the end — a North Park bungalow, an Oceanside beach apartment or a downtown Gaslamp high-rise on the freight elevator, nothing changes hands halfway.

Where Blue Jean began

Point Loma raised me, out of an old San Diego fishing family, and before I ever put my own truck on the road in 2011 I spent years hauling furniture up canyon lots and beach walk-ups across the county for other companies. Watching corners get cut on people’s belongings wore on me, so I set this up on my own terms: a fair price in writing, then a crew good enough to stand behind it.

So is Blue Jean a real moving company?

So, yes — this is a genuine moving company: owner-run, licensed and insured, headquartered in San Diego, CA, rolling trucks we own with crews in our own uniforms. No broker sits between you and the crew, no app auctions your move off as a lead, no franchise badge hangs over the door, and the only people who ever touch your load are movers on our payroll.

The people you’ll work with

  • Priya Anand — office manager; scheduling, certificates of insurance, HOA and coastal-condo paperwork and elevator reservations
  • Beto Guerrero — dispatcher; the daily truck board from the South Bay to North County, permits and base gates and all
  • Kai Nakamura — lead crew chief on pianos, gun safes, tight coastal-condo stairs and steep canyon-lot carries
  • Marco Salas — long-haul lead out on I-5, I-15 and I-8
  • Terrell Woods — our downtown Gaslamp and coastal high-rise freight-elevator specialist

About sixteen uniformed movers work for us, every one on W-2 payroll — no day-labor, no subcontractors. For in-state household work we carry California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) authority; anything crossing state lines runs under our US DOT and MC credentials, and the bond and insurance stay current throughout. Ring the office at (888) 278-9005 and more often than not it is me on the line — I am still out on the truck for the tight La Jolla bluff runs and the downtown high-rise jobs.

Meet the owner

Cole Ferreira — Owner of Blue Jean Movers

I’m Cole, and Blue Jean Movers is mine alone — no partners, no franchise, no name but ours on the truck. I grew up in Point Loma, out of an old San Diego fishing family, and spent years carrying furniture up canyon lots and beach walk-ups all over the county for other outfits before I bought my first truck in 2011. One rule has held ever since: put a fair price in writing, then send a crew good enough to stand behind it. That single truck has grown into a full yard, yet nothing about how a job runs here has really changed. Everyone at your door wears our shirt and draws a W-2 check from this company — not one subcontractor on the crew — and when you call the office, it rings a desk here in San Diego, never a far-off answering service. Years on these streets taught the crew what a San Diego move actually turns on: the long carry up from a steep canyon-lot curb, a La Jolla bluff condo or a Gaslamp high-rise that wants a freight-elevator window and an HOA certificate of insurance, a narrow Pacific Beach block where parking is permit-only, and stucco-and-tile homes with no basement, so it’s the garage and attic we plan around. Because our own name is painted down the side of every truck, a customer’s heirloom dresser gets wrapped and padded exactly the way I would treat something carried out of my own place.

All three on full-time staff and in uniform, working San Diego day in and day out · San Diego, CA-based, licensed and insured, holding California Public Utilities Commission authority alongside federal US DOT and MC authority · whoever loads your truck is who unloads it

How Your Move Day Unfolds

  1. 1

A written number the same day

On our end: Tell us the room count, whether it is a street-level carry or a haul up from a canyon-lot curb, and how parking looks on your block — and a figure in writing usually reaches your inbox before we lock the office for the night.

Where you help: Have both dates in hand, the day you are out and the day you are in, plus any gate, garage or HOA access codes; that is what turns a ballpark into a firm price.

  2. 2

    Date locked, access sorted

On our end: Before move day we reserve the loading zone or pull a parking permit, hold the elevator window at your condo or high-rise, and clear the certificate of insurance with your HOA or building office — so the truck lands at the door and nobody carries a dresser half a block.

Where you help: Give us the two anchor dates — the day you have to be out and the day you can get in — and flag which of the two simply will not budge.

  3. 3

    Pad, wrap, label, carry

On our end: Every dresser and sofa goes under moving blankets and a layer of stretch film, and the hardware off each bed frame and table is bagged, labeled and taped to the piece it belongs to.

Where you help: Mark your own boxes with the room they land in at the new place, and keep passports, keys and small valuables in your own car rather than on the truck.

  4. 4

Unpack the truck, room by room

On our end: The crew that filled the truck is the crew that empties it — every piece landed where you want it, bed frames reassembled, and all the spent wrap and tape carried back out with us.

Where you help: Before the truck rolls, walk the emptied rooms with the crew chief while anything that needs a touch-up still can get one.

What does a San Diego move actually cost?

Send over the size of the home, the date you are aiming for, and a rough idea of what is coming along, and a written estimate lands in your inbox that same day. No deposit and nothing due up front — just a number solid enough to plan the whole move around.

  • Licensed and insured — we carry California Public Utilities Commission household-goods moving authority on jobs inside the state, and pick up US DOT and MC authority the moment a load crosses the California line
  • The figure you approve is the figure the crew works to — it comes off a real room-by-room count, not a number guessed from the street
  • Each mover wears our uniform, is on our own W-2 payroll, and drives a company-owned truck
